I'm shutting my shop for a while!!

Hello dear co-creatives! This is an update to say that my shop is now shut until the beginning of November while I close down the computer/social media and channel my inner gypsy into mainland Europe (woohoo, so excited!). I want to thank you all so much for your support, follows and likes, my gratitude to the retail shops that stock my work and for all your wonderful custom. I have had some perfectly peachy projects this year (not all possible to show yet  but will post upon return) and met so many of you wonderful human beings. Working with you is always a pleasure and so an enormous THANK YOU to you.

May all beings be happy x

Enjoy a magical 20% off and transport yourself to the enchanting Yorkshire Moors

So very excited that spring is just around the corner. And with the sunnier days, we love to get out to the great outdoors and feel inspired by the abundant majesty of spring. After a long slog of wrapping myself around a hot water bottle, and wrapping blankets and a sleeping bag around me, I find myself chanting, ‘almost there’.

And talking of the great outdoors (I rarely paint an inside scene), I would love to share with you a super small (exclusive), new launch of signed, limited edition giclée prints, which are part of a series of paintings called Tales from the Valley. You can see the paintings below. They are a contemporary homage to the world's oldest painting tradition, which is Folk Art, also known as Naive Art. Folk Art serves as a vibrant reflection of cultural life within a community. It captures the essence of traditions, stories, and values passed down through generations. The unique styles and symbols found in Folk Art often tell tales of everyday life, celebrations, and the collective identity of a community. It's a beautiful way to preserve and showcase the richness of our cultural heritage.

Please come and join me to celebrate the launch with a 20% discount on both prints. The offer is on until 19th March. Just click on the button below and type the discount code HPNEGAL at checkout.

Much love, Harriet

It has been ages since I said hello/Christmas season.

I can’t believe it has been two years since I posted here. It’s not because I haven’t been doing anything, it is because I have been a bit distracted. I have continued my illustration practice; taking on commissions, selling in shops and doing fairs. But also I have been doing work in the community and organising arts events. I really enjoy organising events, especially as I work on my own in my illustration practice, and it is a great opportunity to see who is out there and make new arty friends. There are so many amazing artists and genial good’uns out there, I’m sure we shall stay connected for years to come. But, in 2024, things are changing. I’m excited to announce that I will be focussing solely on my practice. This means I can take a deep dive into painting and see what unfolds. So watch this space. Woohoo!

But first, the Christmas season is about to fall upon us! I have several fairs coming up with lots of gifts and paintings for sale and I’m immensely pleased to be a part of all of them. We kick start with the incredibly popular Skipton Craft in the Pen with over 200 artist/makers. It is definitely worth a visit and a great day out if you haven’t been to Skipton. To book your £6 entrance ticket, go to: https://www.craftsinthepen.org.uk

Following on from that I will be at Tod College for Todmorden Makes Christmas (Todmorden Open Studios). Entry too, not just Tod College, but to the studios and venues in the arts trail, are free. We have been working hard to make sure brochures are distributed far and wide, but if you turn up on the day, never fear, there will be plenty at hand. In the meantime, you can follow Todmorden Open Studios on Facebook and Instagram, where you will be able to see who is participating. There are many wonderful artists taking part from Todmorden and beyond, you will not be disappointed.

Lastly, I am participating in Hebden Bridge Open Studios and I will be at the Town Hall, where there is a café and where you can rest your weary legs after so much walking! I believe there will be about 80 artists and studios open. This has become a hugely popular event, people travel far and wide to do the trail. Again, all entry is free. Check out their social media to see who is taking part!

If you are reading this, come and say hello, it would be lovely to meet you!

Introduction to Gouache Workshop (or fun day playing with paint!)

Really pleased to announce a fun workshop invitation on Saturday, 6th November, 2021. The venue is Northlight Studios, which is a wonderful space in the popular and beautiful mill town of Hebden Bridge. Northlight provides high quality studio spaces for artists, designers and makers. It has a thriving community art school education programme as well as a popular calendar of events and exhibitions.

The subject we shall be exploring is the allotment. We will be looking at simple, recurring patterns using photographs for reference and finding ways to play with them on paper using gouache (trust me, this will be easy!). If you are a keen gardener with a vegetable patch, you may want to bring in photos of your own vegetable garden, preferably from an aerial perspective.

If you are thinking of gifting a loved one with a great experience, have friends to share your day with or would like to learn something new (always nourishing for the soul), then this is for you.

To book the workshop, click on the link below. Don’t forget to tell your friends. Look forward to seeing you there!
