About Harriet

Harriet’s artwork is mostly inspired by her immediate world, surrounded by the hardy moorland of West Yorkshire. She is inspired by the vibrant, green fingered, non-conformist community and the beautiful and dramatic landscape. She loves the crumbling mills and industrial architecture, romantically peppering the hills. Harriet originally grew up in the South of England, but her ancestors have for many generations toiled on the moors and in the mills of West Yorkshire. Their stories weaving into the warp and weft of the land while clip clopping on the cobbled stones. Her work is inspired by the age old tradition of folk/naive art and visual story telling with a painterly warmth, character and attention to detail.

Harriet has studied printmaking and art in Brighton and Eastbourne and attained a BA(Hons) in Illustration at Cambridge School of Art.  She is a freelance illustrator, sells her work in shops and galleries in the North of England and illustrates a range of gifts and homeware. She also paints portraits of your beloved homes.

Harriet is an active member of the art community and encourages everybody to empower themselves through artistic expression. She has worked in Adult Learning Disabilities as an Artworker. As an Arts Organiser she is currently a Trustee of Artsmill Gallery Charity (Ltd) based in Hebden Bridge.

“The creative practice is a spiritual practice. It is a beautiful process of synchronicity that works on many levels. When we move ourselves out of the way, that is when the magic truly happens.” HQ
